This two day course is designed to equip attendees
with the practical skills and theoretical underpinning of advanced
practice. At the end of the course participants will be able to
take a detailed clinical history and perform a physical examination
of three major systems.
Course content:
- Taking a clinical history
- Documentation of findings
- Accountability and legal issues
- Respiratory examination: basic principles, breath
sounds
- Cardiovascular examination: heart sounds, assessment
of symptoms
- Abdominal examination: normal and abnormal findings,
bowel sounds
This course can also be customised to be delivered
in half day modular training sessions to fit with the demands
of a busy general practice.

- ENT assessment
- Back pain assessment
Assessment:
Attendees will be assessed using a framework based on the medical
OSCE (objective structured clinical examination).
A statement of competence will be issued on successful completion
of the OSCE.
